Jenifer Thyssen |
Described by one critic as “glorious Austin soprano Jenifer Thyssen (glorious),” Jenifer has thrilled, delighted, and moved critics and audiences alike, earning her opportunities to perform in various venues throughout Texas, California, and New England. After pursuing undergraduate vocal studies at the University of Texas, Jenifer Thyssen turned her focus to early music, continuing her vocal study with Ms. Sylvia Gallo of Austin and stylistic coaching with Mr. Daniel Johnson, director and founder of Texas Early Music Project.Honored as Best Female Classical Singer by the Austin American-Statesman’s Austin Critics Table Awards in 2003, and nominated again for the award in 2007 and 2008, “Thyssen’s beautiful vocal storytelling” enraptures audiences whether the music is by Hildegard von Bingen, William Byrd, or J.S. Bach. You may hear Jenifer on Texas Early Music Project’s CD “The Bonny Broom and Other Scottish Ballads” and on Linda Day’s “Love Your Enemies.” Jenifer’s first solo album, “Dusk is Drawn,” features folk lullabies from around the world and is poised for a Spring 2011 release. Other recordings include a movie soundtrack by the prolific film score composer, Michael J. Lewis and various concert recordings of Texas Early Music Project and La Follia Austin Baroque. Jenifer and her husband Andrew reside in Austin and are blessed by the adventure of being mother and father to four fabulous sons and a brand new daughter. |
