David Stevens

Tenor

David Stevens is active as conductor, clinician, and tenor soloist. From 1985-2000 he directed a consortium of choruses, chamber vocal groups, and an orchestra under the umbrella of Chorus Austin, where he was he conducted a plethora of works such as: Beethoven's Missa solemnis and Symphonies #3 & #5, Bach's Mass in B minor and Passion according to St. John, Bruckner's Mass in F minor, Rossini's Stabat mater and Copland's In the Beginning. He is Director of Music at St. David's Episcopal Church, where he directs two Adult choirs, and an ecumenical collegium of professionals which sing the Office of Compline each Sunday evening, and oversees three children's choirs and two contemporary music ensembles who serve the liturgies at St. David's. He also has appeared as soloist with the Austin Symphony, the Orchestra of Santa Fe, the San Antonio and Memphis Symphonies, and has sung and recorded with both Maestro Helmut Rilling and the late Robert Shaw. He makes his home in Austin, Texas with his wife Laurie, who is a professional violinist, and three children, Andrew, Alexander, and Alyssa.
