About this musical offering...

The Advent and Christmas have been wonderful sources of inspiration for composers and poets for centuries; some of the most memorable and iconic works in the history of music have been created to honor the spirit of the season. As we looked at the cultural antecedents of our own musical traditions, we found wonderful examples of distinctive works brought to us by immigrants from across Europe who enriched our sonic milieu. Now that we also include music of Hanukkah, we delight in having new sources of musical ritual. Join us as we celebrate this cherished time of the year with music from c.1300-c.1900 and later, with our own style, in our own musical language, inspired by those who came before.

Recorded November 2020 at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, December 2021 and 2022 at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Austin, TX. Jay Norwood, engineer.

Enjoy a video performance of Cayla Cardiff singing Gaudete/Gloria, track 2 of the CD on our Gallery Page.
