Paris City Limits, part Deux
Chansons and Dances, c. 1520-1600

Building on the success of the first Paris City Limits (2006), this concert sequel has expanded to include music and styles popular from the mid-to-late 16th century.

Chansons and dances by Lassus, Attaignant, Sermisy, and the “newly discovered” AndrĂ© Pevernage, dealing with scenes of daily life - love sickness, marital arguments, romantic friskiness - will be presented, as well as a reprise of several  spectacularly picturesque musical descriptions by Janequin.

Instrumental music of the time including folk pieces from 15th &16th century France rounds out the evening as TEMP explores both the rustic and the sophisticated sides of Parisian and country life. As a special treat, we have invited Bourée Texane to add their unique touch to the lively songs and dances from the period.

Featured singers include Kathlene Ritch, Jenifer Thyssen, Gitanjali Mathur, Stephanie Prewitt, David Stevens, Jeffrey Jones Ragona, and Gil Zilkha.
