TEMP seeks SOcial Media and Community Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1987 by Daniel Johnson, Texas Early Music Project is dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical music through performance, recordings, and educational outreach.

Texas Early Music Project (TEMP) is seeking a Social Media and Community Manager to handle all aspects of our outward communication via social media, email, blogs, video, and any new form of media that the group deems valuable on which to communicate. This is an opportunity for the right person to have full ownership of a project by creating an engaging online presence as well as enacting our entire online fundraising efforts. It is expected that this employee will work on TEMP projects for an average of 10 hours per week, year round, with some weeks requiring more than 10 hours while other weeks require fewer than 10.

This position is Hybrid remote with some required in-person work in Austin during concert weeks. TEMP will provide limited training for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take ownership of Texas Early Music Project’s online outreach

  • Create and enact online fundraising campaigns

  • Seek opportunities amongst our musicians, staff, and collaborating organizations to create content

  • Curate and adhere to a brand image

  • Consider suggestions from the TEMP Board of Directors and be able to communicate your media plan

  • Communicate with kindness

  • Utilize Mailchimp to craft and send newsletters and email campaigns

  • Work with the Artistic Director to create and post a regular blog

  • Seek creative new avenues for community growth and engagement

  • Maintain an organized social media assets folder in our shared Google Drive for access by the Board and other staff

  • Maintain communication with the board and staff via Early Music email

REQUIREMENTS

  • An interest in the Early Music genre

  • Working knowledge of European history, preferably music history from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque

  • Ability to write knowledgeably about Early Music

  • Adept at graphic design for social media and email

  • Strong skills in content creation, graphic design, and light video editing

  • Live in the Austin Metro area for easy access to all events

  • Adept at the creation of compelling social media content

  • Adept at crafting and maintaining a brand image and voice

  • Adept at creating and enacting fundraising campaigns via social media and email

  • Attend TEMP concerts and events approximately six times per year

  • Attend TEMP board meetings, typically every month

  • Attend some TEMP concert rehearsals for social media purposes

  • Working knowledge of Mailchimp

  • Working knowledge of Squarespace

  • Working knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube

  • Ability to write clearly and creatively, with a sense of character

  • Usage of your own personal laptop, software, and WiFi (these are not provided by TEMP)

  • TEMP does not have high level creative software licenses. This person would need to be adept at graphic design using free online resources like Canva

We are hoping that this person will be able to apply their creativity and talents to the Texas Early Music Project this month.

This is a salaried, W2 position for 10 hours of work per week, paying $20 per hour year-round.
