Six Weekends of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical music with period instruments, and showcasing the best of the Central Texas Early Music community.

Weekend 1

	Friday, Jan. 29 First English Lutheran Church, 8:00pm 30th & Whitis Admission: $10 general; $8 students	A concert presentation of Handel's "Alcina," an opera of illusion, deception, and magic. Featuring the stars of last year's "Poppea," Kerry French and Francisca van Herle, with John Aielli as narrator. Meet the performers at a special reception.
	Saturday, Jan. 30 First English Lutheran Church, 8:00pm 30th & Whitis Admission: $8 general; $6 students	A Young Artists Concert featuring two award-winning performers: lutenist Hector Sequera (Denton, Tx), and virtuoso recorder player Terri Hron (Edmonton, Alberta).
	Sunday, Jan. 31 First English Lutheran Church, Pre-concert lecture at 6:45pm Concert at 7:30pm 30th & Whitis Admission: $10 general; $8 students	Repeat concert of Handel's "Alcina," with a pre-concert lecture at 6:45 by UT musicologist Andrew Dell'Antonio.

Double Feature!: Renaissance and Early Baroque Music from Jan Jackson's ensemble, Passing Measures, and Celtic harp music by Houston harpist, Therese Honey.

Weekend 3

	Saturday, Feb. 13 First English Lutheran Church, 8:00pm 30th & Whitis Admission: $10	La Follia Austin Baroque presents "Foreign Exchange" with TEMP members Chris LeCluyse (tenor) and Bruce Brogdon (lute).
	Monday, Feb. 15 Bates Recital Hall, 8:00 pm MRH, UT School of Music Admission: free	"Eros and Agape": Aspects of Love from the Renaissance and Baroque. Vocal and instrumental music performed by the UT Early Music Ensemble for a post-Valentine concert. Sacred and secular music of love and passion featuring settings from the Song of Songs by various composers, arias from early operas, and perhaps a little bawdiness, too.

Weekend 4

	Saturday, Feb. 20 First English Lutheran Church, 8:00pm 30th & Whitis Admission: $8 general; $6 students	An Evening of Music by Schubert & Schumann with John Aielli (baritone) and Nancy Garrett performing on her Conrad Graf fortepiano (ca. 1820), and featuring Schumann's "Dichterliebe," Schubert "Impromptus," and excerpts from "Schwanengesang."
	Sunday, Feb. 21 First English Lutheran Church, 7:30pm 30th & Whitis Admission: $8 general; $6 students	"A Varietie of Lute Duos": Scott Horton (Dallas) and Bruce Brogdon (Houston) present a concert of lute, vihuela, and Baroque guitar solos and duets.

Weekend 5

	Saturday, Feb. 27 First English Lutheran Church, 8:00pm 30th & Whitis Admission: $8 general; $6 students	"O Dulcissima Bellatrix": Music of Hildegard von Bingen, chant that is immediately engaging yet profoundly timeless. This concert is presented in memory of Barbara Thornton, a pioneer in the rediscovery and performance of the music of Hildegard and other medieval repertories, and founding member of the ensemble, Sequentia.
	Sunday, Feb. 28 First English Lutheran Church, 7:30pm 30th & Whitis Admission: $8 general; $6 students	"Laurie Stevens & Friends": Presenting music for violin and continuo with works by Bach, Handel, L. Couperin and others, and featuring Laurie Stevens (Austin), Baroque violin, Andrus Madsen (Rochester), harpsichord, and Cora Harnish, viola da gamba (San Antonio).

Saturday, March 6
First English Lutheran Church, 8:00pm
30th & Whitis
Admission: $8 general; $6 students

Texas Early Music Project and members of La Follia and Passing Measures join together to present music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. Featuring music by Hasse, Gabrielli, Charpentier, Froberger, and Padilla. Period instruments including sackbuts, cornetti, viols, recorders, flutes, and harpsichord will perform alone and in conjunction with singers, including Daniel Johnson, John Aielli, Chris LeCluyse, Corey Rooney, Carr Hornbuckle, and others.

Mid-Winter Festival Ticket Information
Ticket prices are listed in the schedule above. Save time and money with a seven-performance pass, good for any concert except the La Follia performance: $49.00 general or $37.00 students, a 15% savings on the single ticket prices. Members of Early Music America or the Austin Circle of Theaters receive a discount of $1 per concert.
