Julie Silva

Mezzo-soprano and Percussion

[img:Julie Silva]Julie Silva enjoys performing a broad range of vocal styles including opera, Middle Eastern and Eastern European popular music, and early music. She regularly performs excerpts with the Spotlight on Opera program in Austin, most often in trouser roles. She also sings in the St. David’s Compline Choir and as the alto section leader at St. Mark’s Episcopal. Julie recently received her Master’s degree in Music from the University of Texas at Austin where she specialized in ethnomusicology. During her ethnomusicology studies, she performed as a vocal soloist with the Middle Eastern Music Ensemble “Bereket” and was a teaching assistant for the Javanese Gamelan Ensemble. Julie currently teaches private voice lessons at Four Points Middle School in Leander and at Trinity Episcopal School in West Lake.
