Andrew Hallock

Countertenor

[img: Andrew Hallock] American countertenor Andrew Hallock graduated in 2002 from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Music in Composition. There he also studied conducting, trombone, and voice. In 2009 Andrew graduated from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Netherlands, where his teachers were Michael Chance and Peter Kooij. His repertoire ranges from the 16th to 21st century, and he now sings around Europe with Cappella Pratensis, Musica Fiata, the Kölner Bach-Verein, and sometimes back home with the Texas Early Music Project and La Folia Austin Baroque. In addition to a busy singing schedule, he regularly plays both the cornett and the sackbut. Andrew is particularly interested in issues of historically-informed performance and historical instrument construction, and studies instrument-building with Paul Beekhuizen in Delft. While visiting Austin he still enjoys singing in the beautiful compline service at St. David's church, where he began as a countertenor so many years ago, under the guidance of David Stevens. He has lived in The Hague since 2004.
