Celtic Knot
Scottish, Irish, & Breton Music
from the 16th-19th Centuries

One of Texas Early Music Project's most beloved musical treasures is its repertoire of 17th and 18th century Scottish ballads. Beautiful and heartfelt songs including "The Broom of the Cowdenknows", "The Banks of the Devon", "Etrick Banks" and others, have inspired and touched our audiences over the last decade. TEMP is proud to feature some our favorite Scottish ballads, sung by some of our favorite singers: Kathlene Ritch Brown, Stephanie Prewitt, Lauren Zachry Reynolds, Brett Barnes, and Jeffrey Jones Ragona. These wonderful singers will be accompanied by the TEMP Ballad Band (Marcus McGuff, Boel Gidholm, John Walters, Therese Honey, Scott Horton, James Brown, and Jonathan Brumley) which will also be featured in several newly arranged Scottish reels and dances. TEMP sopranos Jenifer Thyssen and Abby Green and lutenist Jonathan Brumley will also join in the fun with a few Irish and Scottish solo selections. But wait, there's more!

Recognizing both the recent resurgence of interest in Celtic culture and the stylistic similarity and  diversity within the genre, TEMP is proud to announce that many local and regional artists will be joining us, as we present a musical collaboration that brings together the Irish, Scottish and Breton traditions of Celtic music.  Harpist
Therese Honey performs traditional music from Ireland and Scotland; Bourrée Texane (Serge Lainé, Lisa Whatley, and Heather Gilmer) performs  Breton folk tunes and dances; Erin Bobruk and Ryan Beavers perform Irish songs and Heather Gilmer and Jeff Moore will offer Irish instrumental selections.
